Hippocrates, the Father of Medicine believed so much in the healing power of food that he lived by the motto he is most remembered for saying, “Let food be thy medicine and medicine be thy food.” In his time, food was natural as earth would have it. Today, food is becoming less and less natural. If we don’t stop the Bayer Monsanto merger, not only our food supply will be in grave danger, but so will the health of people, animals, and planet.
One of the great gifts to this planet and to humanity is the inherent goodness of real food, grown as nature intended without adulteration or chemicals. That is the food of nourishment, possessing healing qualities.
Take a look for yourself at both these corporations, their history, their crimes against humanity, the cancer and illnesses caused by exposure to their products–from Agent Orange, to PCBs, Carcinogens, and the Zyclon B gas used in gas chambers… just imagine all the pain experienced by people the world over due to harmful deadly products these two corporations have manufactured. To them it’s always been about profits above all.
How in the world did companies with track records like these ever gain such a prominent foothold in controlling the food supply for the whole world? How indeed! They’ve already infiltrated our government, look at Monsanto’s Michael Taylor for instance whom President Obama appointed as the FDA’s “Food Czar.” From food to pesticides to pharmaceuticals, the chemical cartel runs the show.
CLIMATE CHANGE
Don’t forget to look at how they’re involved with Climate Change. Their chemical and genetically modified seed and agricultural products require unnatural and unsustainable farming practices. Look and you’ll find mono-cropping farming methods that erode soil, destroy natural habitats and forests. They replace carbon-absorbing sinks with carbon producing farming areas while employing heavy and excessive application of toxic fertilizer and toxic pesticides, as well as ozone depleting substances. All of these things are directly linked to climate change. Not only do they contribute but they put up fierce fight for being the number one culprit and instigator of climate change–perhaps even more than burning fossil fuels alone. Fertilizer use involved with conventional and GMO farming alone is responsible for increased atmospheric nitrous oxide levels–which is believe it or not, 300 times more detrimental to us than CO2. I dare say it’s only because of Bayer and Monsanto and the Chemical Cartel (Bayer, Monsanto, Dow, Dupont, Syngenta) lobbyists that the spotlight seldom shines on the role industrial farming plays in contributing to climate change.
In a press release, Pesticide Action Network senior scientist Marcia Ishii-Eiteman said:
Just six corporations already dominate worldwide seed and pesticide markets. Additional consolidation will increase prices and further limit choices for farmers, while allowing Monsanto and friends to continue pushing a model of agriculture that has given us superweeds, superbugs and health-harming pesticides. Politics and political parties aside, I respect Bernie Sanders for the courage to speak out about these issues:
Let’s do what we can to maintain the health and integrity of our food supply. The survival of the pollinators as well as all of us depends on it.
