Factory Farms produce more waste than the entire US population.
According to the EPA, factory farms “now account for a significant share of the remaining water pollution problems in the United States.”
Concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), also known as factory farms, are large livestock and poultry operations that raise hundreds, thousands, or even sometimes millions of animals in industrial confinement buildings or feedlots. The enormous amount of waste generated from factory farms–including toxic metals, pharmaceuticals, and hormones–cause significant air and water pollution and threaten human health.
